Statutory employer charges are the same through both providers; the gap is the fee difference, before deposits, FX and add-ons.
Run G-P and Papaya Global on your own numbers · 1 hire in India at $30,000, every line editable The $100 and what it buys
Papaya’s floor is $499, G-P’s is $599, and since the statutory employer charges of a country do not change with the provider, that $100 is the whole difference in the all-in monthly total. The table above shows it holding at exactly $100 in every country priced here, which is worth knowing in itself: in India at $30,000 the $100 is 3% of the invoice, in Germany at $75,000 it is barely 1%. The cheaper fee matters most where salaries are lowest.
Two different kinds of published
Both providers print a floor, and both leave the variation unexplained, but they publish different things around it. G-P prints the term — no minimum contract length for EOR — and how its contractor fee is billed. Papaya prints a wider product set: contractor management from $5, contractor of record from $199, payroll from $29. If your problem is a mixed global workforce rather than one employee, that range is the argument; if your problem is one hire you may not keep, the stated term is.
What neither will tell you on the page
Neither publishes the deposit policy for EOR, the billing period, the FX margin or the size of any discount. Papaya’s EOR route ends at a quote form, G-P’s at a proposal request. Expect both floors to move once the country is named, and treat the $100 as the gap between two minimums rather than the gap between two offers.
The country still dominates
At $30,000 in India the statutory charges are +6.2% of salary; in Brazil they are +50%, in Italy +37.4%. That spread dwarfs $100 a month. Price the country first with the calculator, then use these two on the terms that actually differ.
Get both quotes for the same scenario.
Send each provider the same salary, country and headcount, and ask for the deposit, the FX rule and the mandatory add-ons in writing.

Questions people ask before booking a demo
- Is Papaya Global cheaper than G-P?
- On the published floors, yes, by $100 per employee per month: from $499 against from $599. Because statutory employer charges are identical through either provider, that $100 is the entire difference in the all-in total. In India at $30,000 it is $3,153 a month through Papaya against $3,253 through G-P; in Germany at $75,000, $8,140 against $8,240.
- Are both prices 'starting at' prices?
- Yes, and that matters more than the $100. Both are 'from' floors that vary by country, and neither provider publishes the range or the rule behind the variation. So the gap you see above is the gap between two minimums, not between two quotes. Ask both for the same country, the same salary and the same headcount, in writing, then compare.
- Which one is better for contractors?
- Papaya publishes more options: a contractor solution from $5 per month for management only and a contractor of record from $199 where it becomes the contracting party. G-P publishes one line at $39, and states it is charged only in months you pay that contractor. For a handful of contractors paid intermittently G-P is simpler and can cost less; for a large contractor base with a mix of management and risk transfer, Papaya has the products.
- Do either of them require a deposit?
- Neither states one for EOR. Papaya's pricing page says 'no deposit required' in its contractor block but is silent for EOR; G-P is silent throughout. Neither publishes a billing period or an FX margin either. Put deposit, billing period and FX in writing with both quotes.
- Which one covers more countries?
- G-P claims 180+ countries for EOR employees and 190+ for contractors. Papaya claims 'in-country experts in 160+ countries' with payments coverage at 180+. Both are the providers' own claims and both mix owned entities with partners, so if your country is unusual, ask each one whether it employs there directly and who the legal employer would be.
