Same salary and statutory charges in every row; only the fee segment changes.
What the Czech Republic adds on top of the salary, and where each rate comes from.
Rates apply to the base named in each line; capped lines stop growing above the ceiling. Engine assumptions: Role is not risk-classified work, and the employee is not a paramedic or a member of a works fire brigade = 1; Statutory work-injury insurance at 5.6 per mille, the residual 'other economic activities' group of decree 125/1993 = 0.56.
| Line | Employer rate | Base & ceiling | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Social security and employment policy contribution (pojistné na sociální zabezpečení)Employees who do not perform risk-classified work and are not paramedics or works fire brigade members | 24.80% | Gross salary , capped at CZK 2,350,416 / yr One payment made of three parts: 2.1% sickness insurance, 21.5% pension insurance and 1.2% employment policy contribution. The Czech Social Security Administration publishes two higher employer rates alongside it, and they exist because of the 2023 pension reform rather than because of the industry: 27.8% in 2026 for employees in risk-classified work, rising to 28.8% in 2027 and 29.8% from 2028, and 29.8% already for paramedics and members of a works fire brigade. The ceiling is 48 times the average wage, CZK 2,350,416 in 2026; the administration states that above it the employer stops paying its own share as well as the employee's, so this line genuinely flattens out rather than only the payslip deduction. | Česká správa sociálního zabezpečení2026-09-20 |
| Public health insurance (veřejné zdravotní pojištění)All employees, with no upper ceiling | 9% | Gross salary The premium is 13.5% of the assessment base and the employer carries two of the three thirds, which is the 9% here: VZP states that employers remit one third withheld from the employee and two thirds that they pay themselves. There is no maximum assessment base for health insurance - the ceiling that applies to social security was abolished here and never came back - so this line keeps growing with pay while the social security line stops. The floor is the minimum wage, CZK 22,400 a month in 2026 for a minimum premium of CZK 3,024, but where pay falls short the Act puts the top-up on the employee rather than on the employer, except when the shortfall is caused by an obstacle on the employer's side. | VZP ČR2026-09-20 |
| Statutory work-injury and occupational-disease insuranceEvery employer with at least one employee, at the rate for its predominant business activity | 0.56% | Gross salary , capped at CZK 2,350,416 / yr The line most cost pages for this country leave out. It is compulsory from the day of the first employment relationship, it is paid quarterly to Kooperativa (or to Česká pojišťovna for employers insured there before 1993), and its rate is fixed by a finance ministry decree rather than by the insurer: from 2.8 per mille for data processing up to 50.4 per mille for coal mining. The rate follows the predominant activity of the legal employer, which under an EOR is the provider, and supplying personnel appears in no rate group of the annex, so the residual 'other economic activities' rate of 5.6 per mille is the declared modelling point here. A Czech entity of your own writing software would be 2.8 per mille. Section 12(2) ties the premium base to the social security assessment base, so the same annual ceiling is applied. The minimum premium is CZK 100 a quarter. | Vyhláška č. 125/1993 Sb., section 12(2) and annex 2, consolidated text in force since 1 January 20122026-09-20 |
| Employer-paid sick pay for the first 14 days not in total | — | Carried at zero because it follows absence rather than pay. Section 192 of the Labour Code puts the first 14 calendar days of a temporary incapacity or quarantine on the employer, paid for the days that would have been working days and for public holidays that would otherwise have been paid; sickness benefit from the social security system starts after that. | Zákoník práce (zákon č. 262/2006 Sb.), section 192(1), consolidated text in force on 1 January 20262026-09-20 |
| Severance on redundancy (odstupné) not in total | — | Carried at zero because it is contingent on how the employment ends, not recurring. Section 67 of the Labour Code gives one month's average earnings if the employment lasted under a year, two months from one year and three months from two years, and it is due only where the employer terminates for the reorganisation grounds in section 52(a) to (c), or by agreement for the same reasons. A resignation, a dismissal for cause or the end of a probation period triggers nothing. | Zákoník práce (zákon č. 262/2006 Sb.), section 67(1), consolidated text in force on 1 January 20262026-09-20 |
| Thirteenth-month pay not in total | — | Carried at zero because Czech law does not create it. Nothing in the Labour Code requires a thirteenth month; where one is paid it comes from a collective agreement or the employment contract, and it then counts in full towards both the social security and the health insurance assessment bases. | Zákoník práce (zákon č. 262/2006 Sb.), consolidated text in force on 1 January 2026, read in full2026-09-20 |

EOR or your own entity
Fees scale with headcount. An entity does not.
The statutory charges are the same whether you use a provider or your own společnost s ručením omezeným: 24.8% plus 9% plus the work-injury premium, with the social security ceiling at CZK 2,350,416. What differs is the setup and one small rate. Playroll puts an EOR hire at 5 to 10 business days and an s.r.o. at 6 to 10 weeks plus payroll setup, with $3,000 to $6,000 of legal, notary and registration fees on its own figures, after which you register as an employer with the social security administration and with a health insurer and keep filing. The rate difference runs the other way: an s.r.o. whose predominant activity is software would pay work-injury insurance at 2.8 per mille, where a provider supplying personnel falls into the residual 5.6 per mille group. On one hire that is a fraction of a percent; it is worth knowing only because almost no quote breaks it out.
Fees grow with every hire; the charges line is owed under an entity too.
| Headcount | RemoFirst fees / yr | Borderless AI fees / yr | Statutory charges / yr |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $2,388 | $6,948 | $15,462 |
| 3 | $7,164 | $20,844 | $46,386 |
| 5 | $11,940 | $34,740 | $77,310 |
| 10 | $23,880 | $69,480 | $154,620 |
| 20 | $47,760 | $138,960 | $309,240 |
Statutory charges are owed either way; the provider fee is the only line an entity removes, against the cost of incorporating and running local payroll.

- At least two months either way, and since the 2025 amendment the period runs from the day the notice is delivered and ends on the day of the following month bearing the same number, rather than starting on the first day of the next month. One month applies to the narrower grounds in section 52(f) to (h) of the Labour Code. Eight months of probation may be agreed for a managerial employee, against four for everyone else, and either side may end the contract during it in writing without giving a reason.

Questions people ask before booking a demo
- How much does an employer of record cost in the Czech Republic?
- Statutory employer charges come to about 34.4% of gross pay: 24.8% social security and employment policy, 9% health insurance, and 0.56% statutory work-injury insurance at the rate that applies to a provider supplying personnel. On a US$45,000 salary that is roughly US$1,290 a month on top of the US$3,750 of salary. Published EOR fees then run from about $199 to $699 per employee per month, so the all-in cost lands near $5,240 to $5,740 a month.
- Is the Czech employer contribution capped at high salaries?
- Half of it is. Social security stops at 48 times the average wage, CZK 2,350,416 in 2026, and the social security administration is explicit that above that figure the employer pays neither the employee's share nor its own. Health insurance has no ceiling at all, so 9% keeps running on every crown. The practical effect is that the employer on-cost falls from about 34.4% towards 9% as pay climbs past the ceiling.
- Does a Czech employer pay anything beyond social and health insurance?
- Yes, and it is usually missing from cost pages: statutory work-injury and occupational-disease insurance. It is compulsory from the first employment relationship, paid quarterly to Kooperativa, and priced by a finance ministry decree at between 2.8 and 50.4 per mille of the same base as social security, according to the employer's predominant activity. Ask a provider which rate group it sits in, because the answer depends on the provider's own registration rather than on the job you are filling.
- How long are probation and notice in the Czech Republic?
- Probation may be agreed for up to four consecutive months, or eight for a managerial employee, and it is extended by any working day the employee did not fully work. Notice is at least two months either way, and since the 2025 amendment it runs from the day of delivery rather than from the first day of the following month, which shortens a real exit by up to four weeks against the old rule.
- How many public holidays does the Czech Republic have?
- Thirteen days off. The Act lists seven state holidays - 1 January, 8 May, 5 and 6 July, 28 September, 28 October and 17 November - and seven other holidays: 1 January again as New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May, and 24, 25 and 26 December. Counting the shared 1 January once gives thirteen distinct days, all of them days of rest under section 3.
