Countries on this page
One employee at each country's example salary, all-in through the three picks.
Statutory charges only, from each country's official rules; the fee comes on top.
| Country | Salary | Employer on-cost | RemoFirst / mo | Rivermate / mo | Playroll / mo |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MX Mexico | $36,000 | +29.8% | $4,094 | $4,214 | $4,294 |
Statutory employer charges are identical whichever provider employs the person: from +29.8% in Mexico to +29.8% in Mexico at these example salaries. The country moves the total far more than the provider does; the fee gap between the three picks is the same $200 a month everywhere.
One country priced properly beats a region estimated
The top results for this query list ten or twenty providers with no total for any hire. This page does the opposite: one Mexican employee at $36,000, every statutory line from the official source (IMSS fixed and excess quotas, disability and life, retirement, INFONAVIT, the state payroll tax), then each published fee. Because the statutory part is identical across providers, the ranking is the fee ranking, and the fee is 5% to 15% of the invoice.
Deposits change the cash picture
Playroll’s fee is the third lowest, but it asks for a fully refundable deposit of one month’s salary per employee at onboarding, $3,000 for this hire. Oyster requires a refundable deposit without publishing the amount. Remote states no deposit outside rare, high-risk cases. The rest say nothing. For a nearshoring team of ten at Mexican salaries, quantified deposits become a treasury line worth asking about before the fee.
Contractors first, employees later
Many Latin American teams start as contractors. RemoFirst ($25), Remote ($29), Multiplier ($40), Deel ($49) and Papaya Global (from $5) publish contractor prices next to their EOR fee; the contractor conversion ranking prices the switch, and the EOR vs contractor page lets you set the country and pay yourself.
Send the same scenario to the three picks.
Same country, salary and headcount to each; ask for the deposit, the FX rule, the minimum term and any mandatory add-on in writing. The fee is the only line that differs between their invoices.

Questions people ask before booking a demo
- How much does an EOR cost in Mexico?
- One $36,000 hire costs $3,895 a month in salary and statutory employer charges (about 30%: IMSS, retirement, INFONAVIT, the state payroll tax and the aguinaldo), plus a published fee of $199 to $699 depending on the provider, so $4,094 to $4,594 all-in. Prices checked 2 September 2026.
- Why are Mexico's employer charges so high compared with the fee?
- Mexico's IMSS branches, the 2% retirement and 5% INFONAVIT contributions and the state payroll tax (3% modelled) add up to roughly 30% of gross at this salary, each line sourced on the Mexico page. At $36,000 that is about $895 a month, more than any published EOR fee.
- Which providers cover Latin America?
- All nine tracked providers state global coverage that includes Latin America: RemoFirst 185+, Playroll 180+, Rivermate 180+, Papaya Global 160+, Multiplier 150+, Deel 130+, Oyster 120+, Remote 90+ countries; Rippling does not state a count. Country-specific prices vary, so ask each for the countries you need.
- Which other Latin American countries are priced here?
- Mexico today. Each country enters the ledger only once every statutory employer line has an official source and a check date, so Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Chile will appear as that work is completed rather than as estimates.
